Amalfi Coast Boat Rental — Private Boats with Captain on Board

Amalfi in Style offers private boat rental on the Amalfi Coast with an English-speaking captain included on every experience. You choose the boat, the duration and the places you want to see. The captain handles the rest.

Departures are available from Amalfi and Positano. Itineraries are fully flexible: you decide where to go, how long to stay and what to do on the water.

What "boat rental with captain" means here

Renting a boat with Amalfi in Style means having a private vessel entirely at your disposal, with a professional captain on board at all times. There are no shared groups, no fixed routes and no fixed schedule.

The captain speaks English, knows the coastline thoroughly and can suggest stops, swimming spots and restaurants accessible only by sea. You have full freedom to adjust the route during the trip, depending on your preferences and sea conditions.

Every boat comes equipped with snacks, drinks, snorkeling equipment and towels. Nothing needs to be brought on board.

Our fleet

— three boat categories

How long, where and how much

There is no standard tour. You contact us, tell us how many people are in your group, where you would like to depart from and what you want to see. We suggest the most suitable boat and build the experience around your needs.

As a general reference:

  • A short coastal experience of 2 to 3 hours starts from € 600.
  • A half-day itinerary covering the main highlights between Amalfi and Positano runs approximately 5 hours and starts from € 1,100.
  • A full day at sea, typically 7 to 8 hours and long enough to reach Capri comfortably, starts from € 1,400.

Luxury Plus boats are priced from € 1,500 and vary depending on the boat available and the duration requested.

All prices are for the entire private boat, not per person.

Popular routes from Amalfi and Positano

The most requested itineraries typically include a selection of the following stops, combined and adjusted to the time available:

  1. The Fiordo di Furore, a narrow sea inlet with a small hidden beach accessible only by boat.
  2. The Grotta dello Smeraldo, one of the most visited sea caves on the coast.
  3. The Li Galli Islands, a small private archipelago off Positano with clear water and good snorkeling.
  4. Santa Croce Beach, one of the few sandy beaches on this stretch of coast, reachable only from the sea.
  5. Positano, which can be reached by boat and used as a stop for lunch or a walk through the village.
  6. Capri, the island most requested for full-day trips, with time to explore by land or swim in the coves.

Routes always depend on weather and sea conditions. The captain will advise on the best options on the day.

Boat proposal ideas on the Amalfi Coast

Private boat experiences on the Amalfi Coast have become one of the most requested ways to organise a marriage proposal. The setting (open water, the coastline in the background, complete privacy) makes it a moment that is difficult to replicate anywhere else.

Amalfi in Style can organise a proposal experience tailored entirely to what you have in mind. A sunset departure, a specific location, champagne on board, music, a photographer following by a second boat: every detail can be arranged. You tell us what you want and we build the experience around it.

There is no standard package for this. It works exactly like any other private rental: you contact us, explain what you are planning and we take care of the logistics.

Self-drive boat rental — be your own captain

For those who prefer to take the helm themselves, Amalfi in Style also offers self-drive motorboat rental. All boats in this category are 40HP, which means no boating licence is required to operate them.

This option suits experienced recreational boaters who want freedom on the water without a captain on board. Pricing for self-drive boats depends on availability. Contact us for rates and to check which boats are free on your preferred date.

How to book

There is no online booking system. You contact us directly, tell us your dates, the size of your group, your preferred departure point and what kind of experience you are looking for. We get back to you with the right boat and a quote.

This approach lets us match each group to the most suitable vessel and build an itinerary that actually fits what you want to do,
rather than slotting you into a pre-set option.

FAQ

Is a captain always included?

Yes, on all standard boat rentals a professional English-speaking captain is included. The only exception is the self-drive motorboat option, where you operate the boat yourself.

Do I need a boating licence?

Not for any of the captained experiences. For self-drive boats, no licence is required either, as all vessels in that category are 40HP.

Can I choose my departure point?

Yes. Departures are available from Amalfi and Positano. If you are staying elsewhere on the coast, contact us and we will find the most practical solution.

Can I change the route during the trip?

Yes. Itineraries are flexible and can be adjusted on the water, subject to sea conditions and safety.

What is included on board?

All captained boats come with snacks, drinks, snorkeling equipment and towels. No need to bring anything for a day on the water.

How far in advance should I book?

In high season (June to September) we recommend booking as early as possible, as availability across the fleet fills up quickly. For other months, a few days' notice is usually sufficient.

Can you organise a marriage proposal on board?

Yes. Contact us directly with your ideas and we will organise the experience around what you have in mind.
